For over a decade, Ratboys have been creating and releasing music. However, their latest album, The Window, is their first endeavor outside of their hometown of Chicago. They traveled to the Hall of Justice Recording Studio in Seattle to work with producer Chris Walla (known for his work with Death Cab for Cutie, Tegan and Sara, and Foxing). The collaboration struck the perfect balance between preparation and experimentation, injecting new energy into the band's signature soft-hearted Midwestern indie rock with an understated Americana twist. With a solidified lineup, the band expanded their vision in the studio, incorporating unexpected elements and instruments like rototoms, talkboxes, and fiddles. The result is Ratboys' most diverse album yet, with each track taking on its own unique sound.
