Two years in the making, "Isles" expands on the artful energy of BICEP's 2017 self-titled debut album while delving into the sounds, experiences and emotions that have influenced their lives and work. They describe "Isles" as "a snapshot" of their work over that time, with the tracks designed to evolve through their various iterations from recording to live show and beyond.
Bicep's globally beloved sound was born as their own rapid rise in the music business began. After launching their legendary FeelMyBicep blog in 2008, their simple website, which consistently showcased new Italo, House and Disco gems from music history, became a resounding success, regularly attracting over 100,000 visitors per month. After the blog spawned a record label and club night, the duo was elevated to the international stage with coveted DJ sets that reflected the musical diversity of their blog.
Following success with productions for Throne of Blood and Aus Music, Bicep were signed to Ninja Tune in 2017, releasing their acclaimed self-titled debut album the following year, which achieved a top 20 entry in the UK charts and managed to do in Groove what no release has managed in the magazine's long history: win both the Album of the Year and, with "Glue", the Track of the Year categories.
Tracks like "Opal" - and the Four Tet remix that soon followed - as well as the aforementioned lead single "Glue" with its Joe Wilson-developed video became electronic music milestones in 2017, with the latter also being named "Track of the Year" by DJ Mag.
