Having whizzed through a creative heyday of expansive sound and live bombast during the early '80s, Talking Heads bring it all back home on this 1985 album, recapturing their original quartet and shifting the focus back to David Byrne's idiosyncratic tunes. Coming off the rollicking tempos of Speaking in Tongues and Stop Making Sense, Little Creatures' new cuts sound delightfully poetic, uncharacteristically concise, and mellow but of course, there's still the usual spark of madness, like the buoyant heroine of the peppy opener, 'And She Was', the bonkers parenting tips of 'Stay up Late', and the climatic, rallying cry of 'Road to Nowhere' that urges us onward.
