Black Fire was the pianist & composer's debut album & it remains an acknowledged masterpiece of post-bop jazz. Featuring a sublime quartet with Joe Henderson on tenor sax, Richard Davis on bass & Roy Haynes on drums, the music sounds as fresh today as it didwhen it was recorded in November 1963, the start of an astounding creative streak that also produced Hill's great albums Smokestack, Judgment! & Point Of Departure during a period of just four months! The pasted heavy duty card sleeve is graded Excellent with a little light shelfwear to front, still with the import sticker to back and original company inner sleeve. The vinyl is graded Very Good with light signs of play throughout. The first copy we've ever seen - when will you see another?)
