BERLINER PHILHARMONIKER | HERBERT VON KARAJAN Schonberg - Berg - Webern (The Original Source Series Deutsche Grammophon first edition 4-LP box set, the finest audiophile reissue featuring a pure analogue mix cut from the original 1/2-inch 4-track and 1-inch 8-track tapes at Emil Berliner Studios, manufactured at Optimal Media on 180-gram virgin vinyl. Produced and recorded by Hans Weber & Gunter Hermanns, mixed by Rainer Maillard and cut by Sidney C. Meyer direct from the original analogue source. In 1973-74, Herbert von Karajan and the Berliner Philharmoniker undertook a bold project: to record orchestral works by the leading figures of the Second Viennese School - Arnold Schoenberg, Alban Berg, and Anton Webern. These groundbreaking interpretations are now reissued as part of Deutsche Grammophon's Original Source series in a deluxe audiophile edition. For the first time, these recordings have been newly mixed and cut from the original four- and eight-track analogue tapes using an all-analogue AAA process for optimum clarity, tonal depth, and dynamic range. Each pressed on 180-gram virgin vinyl and housed in four gatefold jackets within a slipcase designed by Holger Matthies, the set also includes rare photos and facsimiles of original recording logs and tape boxes. A limited, hand-numbered edition of just 3,300 copies worldwide, this box set presents some of the 20th century's most influential compositions in exceptional new sound quality. Hype sticker & factory sealed. Recommended)
