After a long hiatus since 1998, Sleep has finally released their latest full-length album on Third Man Records. The band, which has already achieved greatness with their previous albums such as Volume One (1991), Sleep's Holy Mountain (1992) and Dopesmoker (2003), has solidified their position at the forefront of the heavy riff scene with their new double album masterpiece, The Sciences. The album features the talented guitarist Matt Pike (High on Fire), bassist and vocalist Al Cisneros (Om) and new drummer Jason Roeder (Neurosis). "The Sciences" takes listeners on an adventurous yet lawless exploration of Sleep's signature sound. NPR Music describes it as "Dopesmoker Beyond the Thunderdome," Fans can only hope for more hazy, mesmerizing riffs in the future.
