Recorded at Rudy Van Gelders Hackensack studio on 8 March 1959, the session features a line-up of Lee Morgan, Hank Mobley, Bobby Timmons and Jymie Merritt the same personnel heard soon after on At The Jazz Corner Of The World. This all-analogue edition was mastered by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio and presents the complete six-track session, including the previously unissued compositions Quick Trick and Jimerick. The performances have the directness, swing and precision that defined Blakeys finest work, with the band moving easily between blues feeling, hard bop drive and a relaxed but exact sense of interplay.
