Undermind, Phishs eleventh full-length studio album is now available on vinyl for the first time in a 2-LP set on JEMP Records. Undermind was recorded at The Barn in Vermont by producer Tchad Blake with Pete Carini in February 2004 and mixed by Tchad in England at Real World Studios in March 2004. Additional recording spanning 2002-2004 was used for Scents And Subtle Sounds (Intro), Grind, and Undermind with Ray Paczkowski doubling on Fender Rhodes for the title track. The majority of songs were written by Trey Anastasio and Tom Marshall, along with Scott Herman on Scents And Subtle Sounds and Undermind. Page McConnell contributed Army Of One, Mike Gordon Access Me, and Jon Fishman Tomorrows Song. The instrumentals Maggies Revenge and internet/vinyl bonus Tiny were excerpted from a full-band improvised 47-minute studio jam dubbed Headphones Jam. Secret Smile included an eleven-piece string section arranged by Maria Schneider. The single The Connection remains in occasional live rotation along with most of the album. Overall Undermind is lush and evocative, with themes reflecting two decades of shared band experience. Undermind was Phishs last album on Elektra Records, with the band ultimately founding their own JEMP records in 2005. Undermind was originally mastered for CD by Bob Ludwig at Gateway Mastering and released by Elektra on June 15, 2004. Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering cut the lacquers for the 2025 vinyl, which was pressed in a numbered edition on 180g audiophile vinyl
