Descended Like Vultures marks Zach Rogue's exciting first full-band studio project! It was a lively ten-day session with producer Bill Racine at Supernatural Sound in Oregon City, resulting in 11 fantastic tracks. The album takes listeners on a dreamy journey, blending classic rock and pop influences, with Rogue's soft, heartfelt vocals and beautiful harmonies layered over lyrics that are sometimes dark and thoughtful. Entertainment Weekly loved it, giving it an A-, and praised the beautiful balance between Rogue's airy delivery and its sharper lyrical moments. Under the Radar also enjoyed the album, calling it "a perfect mix of tender melodies and rock and roll," giving it 8/10. The band embraced the adventurous spirit of the Flaming Lips and producer Dave Fridmann's studio stylea group thats tired but energized, eager to push creative limits. Rogue describes it as the sound of a road-weary but energized band we were big fans of the Flaming Lips and hoped to soak up some of that Dave Fridmann magic through osmosis. All we wanted was to experiment and have fun in the studio.
