Slint formed in the '80s, crafting two albums of intensity and beauty. Spiderland, the second and first Touch and Go release, emerged in '91. Produced by Brian Paulson, its six songs created an evocative new sound: taut, menacing and haunting with occasional blasts of unleashed rage. Unforgettable, Will Oldham's eerie black and white cover photo of four band members' heads above water received PJ Harvey's response on the back cover. It spawned Post-Rock and gained wider audience attention with "Good Morning, Captain" in the 1995 film Kids. In 2010, 33 1/3 series honored the album. Slint split prior to their release, but members went on to play in Tortoise, the Breeders, Palace, The For Carnation, Papa M, Evergreen, Interpol, and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
