Before Stormzy released his platinum-decorated UK #1 debut album "Gang Signs & Prayers" in February 2017, many would have called him simply a promising rapper on the UK scene. Two years later this description is not even remotely adequate. Known for developing the musical landscape of the underground and for being a political troublemaker, Stormzy is a true spokesman for black empowerment and social activism. Although he has headlined numerous European festivals, including Glastonbury and Melt!, Stormzy says of his superstar status: "I'm someone who constantly feels like I have something to prove.
With "Vossi Bop", the first single release from "Heavy Is The Head", Stormzy really broke out of obscurity in April. Over 180 million streams and his first UK #1 single later, Stormzy proved with "Crown" and "Wiley Flow" - a tribute to British MC Wiley - that he is rightly decorated with over 25 awards, including two BRIT Awards, where he stood out in the categories "Best Album" and "Best Male" superstar Ed Sheeran. With "Take Me Back To London" from Ed Sheeran's "No. 6 Collaboration Project", Stormzy's second #1 hit this year, the Grime rapper and the singer / songwriter showed their musical compatibility.
